Our Internal and External Values
In our effort to prioritize impact for underserved students in the United States Bellwether Education Partners works with leaders and public, private, and nonprofit organizations that share our entrepreneurial core values and operating principles. We work with a variety of entities and individuals, but our work is tied together by a shared commitment to an excellent and equitable education system. In particular, we deeply value an unwavering dedication to dramatically improving educational outcomes for low-income students as well as a commitment to creating and using performance-driven systems to that end.
The education reform field is a small one. Anyone Bellwether works with can be confident of our discretion and respect for confidentiality. At the same time, we are a public-facing organization and consequently committed to transparency and forthright dealings with all those with whom we interact. Bellwether’s deep engagement with key change agents and reform organizations enriches our thought leadership and policy work by providing a firm grounding in and understanding of the direct experience of those working directly with students. But internally and externally, we maintain clear and meaningful boundaries between our thought leadership and policy work and the particular interests of any entity.
In our written work and other public communications we account for the diverse nature of our work in the following way: We always hold our clients’ information in confidence but we disclose the existence of any formal relationship that is relevant to any of our work. In other words, for consumers of our work, our transparency policy is straightforward: If it matters to evaluating something we publicly say or do, you will know about it. And most important, we always maintain absolute editorial control over anything that carries our brand or byline.
