Background: Jen Meer is an associate partner with Bellwether Education Partners in the Strategic Advising and Talent Services practice areas. She works with organizations on a range of projects including strategic planning, human capital and organizational design, and performance management and compensation.

After an internship at Mercer HR Consulting, Jen began her post-college career at McKinsey & Company, where she found that her greatest passion was serving education clients to increase their effectiveness, and her greatest impact was in managing engagements at the intersection of strategy, operations, and organization. Prior to joining Bellwether in 2014, Jen was managing director of strategy for Teach For America’s Teacher Preparation, Support & Development team, working across the organization to understand and improve impact on students by better preparing and supporting their 10,000-plus corps member teachers.

Jen earned her master’s in education from the Graduate School of Education and master’s in business administration from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. While at Stanford, Jen helped design the school’s course on urban school district reform, and was a Chicago Public Education Fund Fellow at Chicago Public Schools. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Jen lives in Texas with her husband and two children.

Experience at Bellwether: strategic planning, compensation system design, performance management, competency modeling, professional development systems

Client segments served: charter systems and schools, school districts, product and service organizations, foundations

Sample clients: America Achieves, Rocketship Education, Harmony Public Schools, Cleveland Metropolitan School District

Why I do this work: I’m motivated by helping people (kids and adults) maximize their potential. Today, zip code and other factors outside a child’s control too often determine whether the child has the educational opportunities he or she needs to dream big and accomplish his or her goals. There are so many talented people and organizations who know all kids deserve an excellent education and are working toward that end, and I am passionate about helping critical players in this work deepen their impact given their unique strengths and attributes.
