Pioneers of Charter School Innovation

U.S. News & World Report -- With the recent passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act , states now have the opportunity to replace their No Child Left Behind accountability systems with new accountability systems that include multiple indicators of performance. In doing so, states should take advantage of the opportunity to learn from the accountability and performance management strategies developed by innovative and high-performing charter authorizers. These accountability systems are a lot less sexy than innovative instructional practices, but ultimately the have the potential to impact public education – and support ongoing continuous improvement in children's learning – at a much broader scale.
